South Korean electronics giant Samsung has finally launched the much-awaited Galaxy A8+ (2018) smartphone officially in India at a price of Rs. 32,990. The latest Samsung Galaxy "A" series device, which was recently released in Vietnam, will go on sale on 20 January exclusively via Amazon India. From Infinity Display to 6GB RAM to a dual selfie camera, here's all about the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A8+ is an Amazon Exclusive in India. While the sale starts from 20 January, for those interested in buying the latest Samsung smartphone, Amazon India has the "Notify Me" option. Using this, users can get notified once the sale starts on the e-commerce platform. Reports say buyers can also expect No Cost EMIs, bundled data offers, and exclusive credit/debit card offers.
Galaxy A8+ will be competing with these phones
The Rs. 32,990 Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be taking on smartphones in a similar price range. Such phones include the OnePlus 5T, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Nokia 8, Google Pixel 2, LG G6, and also the recently-launched Honor View 10.
Making high-end Galaxy S series more accessible to masses
Though Samsung Galaxy A line-up is an upper mid-range series, the design of the latest Galaxy A8+ very much resembles that of Samsung's high-end Galaxy S and Note series devices. It has a slightly curved screen and a metal frame on the sides. One of its highlights is "Infinity Display" with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, seen on its flagship Galaxy S8 and Note devices.

The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) features a 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7885 SoC paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD). The device comes with a massive 3,500mAh battery and also supports the fast charging feature. It has a 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port.

The Samsung device sports a dual front shooter for better selfies. It has dual 16MP+8MP front cameras with f/1.9 aperture. There is a single 16MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. The camera has features like Portrait mode, Live Focus for Bokeh effect, AR stickers, etc.
Comes with Always ON ambient display, Samsung Pay support
Galaxy A8+ is water and dust resistant with the IP68 rating - a first for the Galaxy A series. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back. Other sensors on the phone include compass, proximity sensor, magnetometer, accelerometer, barometer, and gyroscope. It also comes with the "Always ON" display and also has the MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) feature for supporting Samsung Pay mobile payments.
Supports Samsung's Bixby voice assistant
The dual-SIM (nano) Galaxy A8+ supports 4G LTE connectivity. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. It has support for facial recognition for unlocking the phone. It also comes with Samsung's proprietary AI-powered virtual assistant Bixby.
