Samsung to beat Lenovo in launching "camera hole" design phone
The race to launch the world's first smartphone with "camera hole" design is getting intense. Lenovo, which had earlier announced to unveil its Lenovo Z5s on December 6, has now rescheduled the launch event to December 18. On the other hand, Samsung is set to launch its variant with camera hole design, Galaxy A8s on December 10. Here's everything to know about it.
Let's analyze the competition
We know Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo have been battling for the title of the world's first company to launch a smartphone with a camera hole display. Huawei had earlier confirmed to launch its Nova 4 smartphone on December 17, while Samsung had announced to unveil its Galaxy A8s on December 10. Now, Lenovo's rescheduling the Z5s launch event means Samsung would bag the title.
Here's a look at Samsung Galaxy A8s
According to the recent leak, the Galaxy A8s will feature a 6.3-inch Infinity-O display with full-HD+ resolution, a 24MP+5MP+10MP triple rear-camera, and a 24MP selfie camera. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable upto 512GB). Further, the phone may run Android Pie-based One UI and pack a 3,400mAh battery.
And, what to expect from the Huawei Nova 4
The Huawei Nova 4 will look pretty similar to the upcoming Galaxy A8s with a camera hole in the display for the front camera. Further, renders suggest the phone will sport a triple rear-camera setup - much like the Huawei P20 Pro. The phone is rumored to come with Kirin 980 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and run Android Pie.
What all will Lenovo Z5s offer
Recently, Lenovo Z5s got leaked in a hands-on video, revealing a circular camera cut-out. The camera hole is similar to Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4, but positioned in the center and not at the top-left corner. Interestingly, the video also gave us our first look at this new camera hole design which appears to be less obtrusive than the current notches we have.
Lenovo Z5s was also spotted on TENAA, revealing key specifications
As per the listing, the Lenovo Z5s will feature a 6.4-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a Huawei P20 Pro-like triple rear-camera setup, a single selfie snapper, a 3,210mAh battery, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the phone is also rumored to feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, but it's unlikely considering we haven't seen this chipset on any smartphone yet.
