Samsung launches dual-screen Leader 8 flip smartphone in China
What's the story
Looks like South Korean electronics giant Samsung is trying to bring the flip phone era back.
The company launched a dual-screen high-end flip smartphone 'Leader 8' or SM-G9298 in China.
Samsung has yet to announce the price and availability of the premium phone offered only in black color.
Leader 8 is exclusive to China and wouldn't be launched in other countries.

Samsung Veyron launched exclusively for China
The latest Samsung Leader 8 flip phone is reportedly the successor to the SM-W2017 Veyron flip phone launched last year by the South Korean company for the Chinese market. However, Leader 8 has a much powerful processor and improved optics compared to Veyron.

Runs on quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor
The dual-SIM (hybrid) Leader 8 has features and charms of flip phones as well as smartphones.
Its dual 4.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED displays have a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.
Powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor, the device comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB.
The phone houses a 5MP front camera and a 12MP rear snapper.

Device comes with support for wireless charging
The Samsung SM-G9298 comes with a 2,300mAh battery and can be charged wirelessly too!
The 4G Android phone supports Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and S Voice.
Coming to the onboard sensors, the device comes with a rear fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, gyroscope, and a barometer.
Other features of the phone include multi-function configurable hotkey and Always-On display; the handset weighs 235 gm.

Samsung releases Galaxy Folder 2 flip phone
In Jun'17, Samsung launched Galaxy Folder 2 flip phone exclusively in South Korea at 297,000 Korean won (about Rs. 16,700).
The Android Marshmallow device comes with a single 3.8-inch display; it has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and runs on a quad-core processor.
It is available in black and burgundy colors.
Samsung still sees a market for flip phones in China and Korea.
