Samsung is building another foldable, but like a 'flip phone'

Even after the whole Galaxy Fold debacle, Samsung is not giving up on the idea of 'foldables'. The South Korean giant recently held its annual developer conference and teased its second phone with a bendy screen, a device that would fold in half like a traditional flip phone. Here's all you need to know about it.
Design
Phone with a clamshell-style form factor
While Samsung didn't share the exact details of the phone, its concept clearly displayed that the company is moving towards a clamshell-style form-factor. As such, instead of horizontally, the device would fold vertically, giving a more comfortable profile to work with. It could take up the form of a regular big-screen phone or a compact one that can fit easily in your pocket.

At the conference, Samsung said it is 'exploring' this flip phone-like concept as part of the work being done to build on its foldable technology. However, the company didn't say if it has improved the foldable display hardware; it only gave a demonstration highlighting how folding the phone at 90 degrees could come handy in different ways, like while shooting a video.

You could get extensive controls after folding
In the demo, Samsung showed folding the clamshell design halfway could create a split view, where you could see your image on the 'standing' portion of the screen and get extensive camera controls on the part lying flat. This would not only make shooting TikTok videos easier but also keep the option to open the phone for watching those videos at your disposal.

Pricing
No word on pricing or availability
Having said that, it is imperative to note that this is just a concept that Samsung is exploring. There's no word on the hardware of the phone or when or if it would be available as a market-ready device. Still, if Samsung goes ahead, it would be interesting to see how it fares against Motorola's RAZR foldable, which is expected to debut pretty soon.
