Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the best Android tablet?
Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Tab S6, a high-end flagship Android tablet that takes on Apple's premium and powerful iPad Pro. Coming as the sequel to the more affordable Tab S5E, the Tab S6 is thinner, lighter, and faster. It now packs flagship internals, an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual-lens rear camera, and a stylus that comes bundled in the box. Here's our roundup.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6: At a glance
The all-new Tab S6 retains the design of its predecessor but with marginally slimmer bezels, a slightly thinner metallic body (5.7mm), and an overall lighter form factor (450 grams). On the rear, you now get a dual-lens camera and an S Pen slot where the stylus will attach magnetically and charge wirelessly. The tablet also offers four AKG-tuned speakers but lacks a headphone jack.
An AMOLED display with integrated fingerprint sensor, dual rear cameras
The Galaxy Tab S6 comes with a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio. There is also an in-screen fingerprint reader but the sensor is an optical one and not ultrasonic that we've seen on S10-series. On the imaging front, you get a 13MP+5MP dual-camera system on the back and an 8MP front-facing camera.
Under the hood
The Galaxy Tab S6 is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage (expandable upto 1TB). Under the hood, it runs on Android Pie-based One UI and packs a 7,040mAh battery that is touted to offer up to 15 hours of use. The tablet can also attach to an optional keyboard cover via side-mounted pogo pins.
Pricing and availability
The Tab S6 costs $649 (roughly Rs. 44,800) for the 6GB/128GB model and $729 (roughly Rs. 50,300) for the 8GB/256GB configuration. It will be available in the US starting September 6. Samsung has also said that the tablet will be available in other select markets (details unknown) by August end. Lastly, the company will also launch an LTE variant later this year.
