Galaxy S25 Ultra to be thinnest Samsung flagship ever
Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series is still months away from its official launch. However, a recent leak has provided intriguing insights into the upcoming flagship smartphone lineup. The premium Ultra model, expected to be slimmer than both the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the yet-to-be-revealed iPhone 16 Pro Max, is drawing significant attention.
Leaked dimensions hint at a sleeker design
Popular tipster Ice Universe has revealed the potential dimensions of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The upcoming model is tipped to be just 8.2mm thin, a noticeable reduction from its predecessor's 8.6mm thickness. Additionally, it is expected to be marginally taller at 162.8mm compared to the current Ultra flagship's height of 162.3mm, and narrower with a width of just 77.6mm down from 79mm in the previous model.
A response to previous model's criticism?
The leaked dimensions suggest that Samsung is revisiting its design strategy for the early 2025 flagship. This could be a response to criticisms that the Galaxy S24 Ultra was uncomfortable to hold due to its size. Samsung may also ditch the boxy design in favor of slightly rounded corners for a better in-hand grip. However, there are conflicting reports about which chipset will power this new flagship, with contenders including the in-house Exynos 2500 and flagship chip from MediaTek.
Qualcomm chipset to 'maximize' AI performance
A recent report suggests that Samsung may opt for a Qualcomm chipset to "maximize" AI performance on the new flagship series. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is also rumored to feature significant camera upgrades, including a new 50MP 3x telephoto sensor. However, it's expected that the battery capacity and charging speed will remain consistent with those of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
