Samsung Galaxy S11-series could come with new "Bright Night" sensor
Samsung's Galaxy S11, set to go official in February 2021, will come with upto five rear cameras including a new sensor for low-light photography. According to LetsGoDigital, Samsung has filed a patent with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for a new low-light imaging sensor called "Bright Night" that will debut on the S11 series. Here are more details.
About Samsung's patent
As per LetsGoDigital, Samsung Electronics filed a trademark with the EUIPO for the name 'Bright Night Sensor' on November 28, 2019. The request is categorized as Class 9 and describes it as an image or light sensor that can be used for video cameras, photographic devices, smartphones, and tablet computers. This suggests that the sensor could be used for both photos and videos.
Samsung Galaxy S11 will also debut a 108MP sensor
Alongside the new Bright Sensor, the Galaxy S11 will also debut a second-generation 108MP sensor. As per acclaimed tipster Ice Universe, this new sensor will be different from the 108MP sensor we saw on the Mi Note 10-series. We expect the sensor to support dual aperture to adjust as per the lighting conditions and even support pixel binning for capturing more details.
Galaxy S11 will also support 8K video recording
Further, according to some code references found in the camera app of the latest One UI 2.0 beta, the Galaxy S11 will support 8K video recording. The high-resolution 108MP sensor will reportedly be used to enable ultra hi-definition video recording on the forthcoming flagship smartphone.
Galaxy S11 will offer dedicated video modes as well
Meanwhile, Samsung is also working on several new photography and videography modes that will debut on the S11. There is a new Director's View mode which will let you record from multiple cameras at the same time, a dedicated Night Hyperlapse mode, a new Single Take Photo mode, Vertical Panorama mode, and several custom filters. We expect to see a dedicated Night videography mode.
