Rivaling Xiaomi, Samsung is working to launch a more premium smartphone under its brand-new Galaxy M series. The company has confirmed that it will launch Galaxy M30 in India on February 27 - a day before Xiaomi would launch its Redmi Note 7 featuring 48MP camera. First, the official announcement from Samsung
Samsung Galaxy M30 likely to debut Infinity-U display
As seen in the official teaser, the Galaxy M30 will have a deeper, rounded, U-shaped notch rather than the V-shaped display cutout on Galaxy M10 and M20. Hence, we expect the phone to debut the Infinity-U display design that Samsung unveiled last November. Moreover, a previous leak claimed that Galaxy M30 will feature a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with 2220 x 1080 pixels.
Galaxy M30 will come with triple rear cameras
Going by the official render, the M30's triple rear-camera unit looks a lot like Galaxy A8s' with the middle sensor accentuated in gold. Further, in terms of specifications, the phone is said to sport a 13MP (f/1.9) main sensor, a 5MP (f/2.2 ) wide-angle camera and another 5MP (f/2.2) depth sensor. Up front, it is likely to come with a 16MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper.
Under the hood
The Galaxy M30 will be powered by an Exynos 7904 chipset, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The leak also claimed that the phone will run Android Pie-based One UI and pack a 5,000mAh battery. Further, it will support 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and other standard connectivity options and sensors.
Samsung Galaxy M30 could be the cheapest triple camera smartphone
The Galaxy M30 could launch under Rs. 15,000, making it the most affordable (cheapest) triple camera phone in India. Currently, this title belongs to Galaxy A7 (2018) which, after getting a massive price cut recently, starts at Rs. 18,990 Samsung, by aggressively pricing its Galaxy M30, will up the ante against Xiaomi which will launch its camera-centric Redmi Note 7 at around Rs. 15,000.
