    What's the story

    Expanding its portfolio of budget-range smartphones, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 smartphones in India.

    Launched alongside the Galaxy A-series smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 feature the company's Infinity Display design and sport plastic unibody designs.

    Moreover, both the phones offer Face Unlock and AI-based camera features such as object and scene detection.

    Galaxy J6: At a glance

    The Galaxy J6 features a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

    The phone is powered by the Exynos 7870 processor, coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

    With support for dual-SIM (Nano), Galaxy J6 runs Samsung Experience based on Android 8.0 Oreo and packs a non-removable 3,000mAh battery.

    The Galaxy J8 features a 6-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

    The phone is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

    With support for dual-SIM (Nano), Galaxy J8 runs Samsung Experience based on Android 8.0 Oreo and packs a 3,500mAh battery.

    Camera specs and features on Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8

    The Galaxy J6 offers a 13MP f/1.9 rear camera and an 8MP f/1.9 front camera.

    On the other hand, the Galaxy J8 sports a dual rear-camera comprising a 16MP +5MP setup. On the front, J8 offers a 16MP camera with f/1.9 aperture.

    Notably, both the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 come with dedicated LED flash modules for their respective front and rear cameras.

    Connectivity options and AI-based features on Galaxy J6 and J8

    In terms of connectivity, both the Galaxy J6 and J8 offer 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

    Moreover, much like the Galaxy A6 and A6+, the J6 and J8 also get AI-based camera features such as facial recognition and variable selfie flash which helps adjust exposure while capturing selfies.

    Other features include 'Chat over Video' and memory management features.

    Galaxy J6 starts at Rs. 13,990, J8 costs Rs. 18,990

    The Galaxy J8 costs Rs. 18,990 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant while J6 comes in 3GB RAM/32GB and 4GB RAM/64GB options and costs Rs. 13,990 and Rs. 16,490 respectively.

    Both the smartphones will be available in Black, Blue and Gold colors.

    J6 be available from May 22 via Flipkart, Paytm Mall, Samsung's E-Store and retail stores, while J8 sales will start from June 20.

    Launch offers for Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8

    Buyers will get a cashback of Rs. 1,500 on purchases made via Paytm Mall. Additionally, buyers will get Rs. 1,500 cashback on making payments via ICICI credit cards. There is also a one-time screen replacement offer on the smartphones purchased till June 20, 2018.
