Samsung Galaxy Fold gets new camera features via update
Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy Fold, bringing its camera performance on par with the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10. Though the $1,980 foldable phone comes with six cameras, the software experience on the phone wasn't upgraded when Samsung took all the time to fix the durability issues. However, that's set to change with the new update.
Here are the new features coming to Galaxy Fold
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Fold is getting several new camera features including Night Mode for selfies, Live focus video mode, AR Doodle and Super Steady recording in Hyperlapse mode. There is also a new video editor that lets you stitch multiple videos together and add captions to videos. These new features are being introduced in the new update with version F900FXXU1ASJ4.
It's unclear if the Fold will get Glitz Live focus
At present, it's unclear if the update also brings Hyperlapse selfie mode, Night mode for the telephoto camera, and the new Glitz Live focus effect. But since the S10 got these features in a similar update, it's possible that the Fold would also get them.
Meanwhile, here's recalling the Galaxy Fold
The Galaxy Fold features two displays: a 4.58-inch HD+ (1960x840 pixels) external screen and a foldable 7.3-inch QHD+ (2152x1536 pixels) Infinity Flex internal display. It has a plastic outer casing and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Further, the improved version comes with an integrated display protective layer, a reinforced hinge area, and reduced space between the hinge and screen to protect against dust and debris.
Galaxy Fold packs a total of six cameras
In the folded state, the Galaxy Fold offers a 10MP selfie camera which is housed above the external screen. In the unfolded position, the notch in the top-right corner of the internal display houses a 10MP+8MP dual camera setup. Lastly, on the rear, the device gets a triple-lens main camera with a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor.
Under the hood
The Galaxy Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It packs two batteries, one on each side of the hinge, for a combined capacity of 4,380mAh. It also supports 15W wired and wireless charging, as well as 9W reverse wireless-charging. The device runs Android Pie-based One UI and packs AKG-tuned stereo speakers.
