Samsung Galaxy Fold passes final tests, set to launch soon

    What's the story

Samsung is once again working to introduce the Galaxy Fold after the premium foldable phone missed its original launch date following durability issues.

Now, according to a new report, the revamped Galaxy Fold has "passed a series of tests with flying colors" and it "is good to be reintroduced to the public."

    Here's all about it.

    New date

Galaxy Fold is yet to get an official re-launch date

The report claims that industry experts and professionals have tested the redesigned Galaxy Fold and that it has passed several tests. The report also adds that the phone is likely to become available in Q3 itself.

Separately, just last month, a top Samsung executive also confirmed that Galaxy Fold was "ready to hit the market" but since then, we hadn't heard any official confirmation.

    Concerns

Backstory: Galaxy Fold's release was suspended after damning reports

Back in April, Samsung had suspended the release of Galaxy Fold after several reviewers reported display breaking issues on the foldable phone.

In some cases, removing a plastic film did the damage while in others, the display randomly broke and went blank.

Meanwhile, according to a recent Bloomberg report, the South Korean tech giant has ironed out all the flaws on the folding phone.

    Fix #1

Here's how Samsung has tackled the protective layer-related issues

Citing sources familiar with the work at Samsung, Bloomberg reported that the issues plaguing the device's display have been fixed.

To tackle the issues related to the protective film, the company has stretched the film in such a way that it now covers the entire display and the edges are tucked into the bezels, making it difficult for users to peel it off.

    Fix #2

The hinge has also been redesigned

Samsung has also reworked the hinge, pushing it slightly upward from the screen. It now sits flush with the display and stretches the film further when the phone opens, making it look more like a part of the device than an added accessory.

The report also claimed the redesigned hinge would keep a crease from appearing in the middle of the flexible display panel.
