Samsung's Fold 2, with clam-shell design, to cost around $1,000
Samsung is working on a new foldable phone that will feature a clam-shell design and it could go official sometime early next year. Interestingly, the upcoming handset could also be one of the cheapest folding phones. It is expected to be priced around $1,000 when it hits the global market in 2020, according to a report by The Korea Herald. Here's more.
Samsung's next foldable phone to bear model number SM-F700F?
There is not much information available about this new phone. However, just last month, a Samsung smartphone bearing model number SM-F700F was spotted on the company's Africa website. This model number is believed to be a part of the foldable series, considering it is in line with Galaxy Fold's original model number of SM-F900F.
Concept renders reveal an Infinity O-like flexible screen
According to concept renders, which are largely based on rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 could feature an Infinity O-like flexible OLED screen on the inside. This Note 10-like punch-hole design will allow Samsung to house a front-facing camera and achieve an edge-to-edge bezel-less screen. Moreover, it could also bear a smaller screen on the outside for checking notifications, music controls, and other functions.
It could be like a Motorola RAZR-like vertically-folding phone
Further, Samsung's SM-F700F is expected to feature a clamshell-like form-factor - similar to the recently-launched $1,500 worth Motorola RAZR. In March, Bloomberg had claimed that Samsung was working on two different foldable phones including a vertically-folding device that is planned to be released in early 2020. Fold 2 could be just that. But, for more details, we will have to wait.
When will Galaxy Fold 2 be launched?
According to reports, this folding smartphone is codenamed as Bloom and it could go official sometime early next year in the Mobile World Congress 2020. The phone is likely to arrive after the Galaxy S11 series which is set to be launched around mid-February.
