Samsung Galaxy Buds+ launched: Better sound and improved battery life
At its Unpacked event, along with Galaxy S-20 series and its second foldable phone, Samsung had also launched Galaxy Buds+, the next iteration of its truly wireless earbuds. Its design is identical to the original Galaxy Buds while sound quality, battery life, and call audio have improved. As for pricing, at $149 (Rs. 10,600), the Buds+ comes at a slight premium over its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy Buds+: At a glance
The Galaxy Buds+ features the same in-ear design we saw on the regular Buds. You still have the same swappable silicon ear tips and wing tips as well as the familiar-looking charging-cum-carry case. The new version also supports touch controls, allowing you to play/pause music, change songs, answer calls, or summon a voice assistant using taps or long presses.
The Buds+ now offers better audio and longer playtime
The Buds+ packs a 2-way dynamic speaker system comprising a dedicated woofer and a tweeter for enhanced bass reproduction and clear high notes. Further, they now offer up to 11 hours of listening time on a single charge, and the charging case extends that to 22 hours. You can juice up the case using a Qi-based wireless charger.
You also get improved call quality because of adaptive microphones
The Galaxy Buds+ earphones come with an adaptive 3-microphone system that promises to offer improved call quality by blocking out surrounding sounds. There is also an Ambient mode that lets you increase/decrease the ambient sound. However, there is no active noise cancellation feature.
Pricing and availability
At $149, the Galaxy Buds+ earphones are certainly more expensive that the standard Galaxy Buds, but based on all the improvements, they seem worth the added cash. In the US, the Buds+ will go on sale via Samsung.com starting February 14, 2020, and via other retailers from March 6, 2020. The Galaxy Buds+ earphones come in three colors: Black, Blue, and White.
