Samsung Galaxy A80, with 48MP rotating camera, launched in India
Expanding its line-up of Galaxy A smartphones in India, Samsung has launched the Galaxy A80 today. The new handset arrives as the company's first smartphone to feature an all-screen design that has been achieved by adopting a potentially game-changing rotating camera. The Galaxy A80 will be available for pre-ordering from July 22 to July 31. Here's everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy A80: At a glance
The Galaxy A80 debuts the 'New Infinity Display' design to offer a notch-less, hole-less all-screen look. And if you're wondering about the front-facing camera, well, there isn't one. However, the rear camera automatically rotates and flips to capture selfies, similar to ASUS 6Z. Further, it offers a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 20:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The world's first rotating triple camera
The Galaxy A80 is touted to feature the world's first rotating triple camera. The setup comprises a 48MP (f/2.0) main lens, a 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3D Time-of-flight sensor. This setup also serves as the front-facing camera, enabling sharp and high-quality portrait shots as well as game-changing vlogging, thanks to stabilized 4K video recording at 30fps, Live focus and Scene Optimiser support.
Under the hood
The Samsung Galaxy A80 is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 730G chipset, coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Under the hood, it packs a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast-charging support and runs on Android Pie-based One UI. The handset also offers all standard sensors and connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port. However, it lacks a headphone jack.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy A80 costs Rs. 47,990 for the solo 8GB/128GB variant. It will be available for pre-booking from July 22-31, and those who pre-order can avail one-time free screen replacement offer. There is also a 5% cashback for Citibank credit card users. Lastly, the Galaxy A80 will go on sale from August 1 via all major online and offline stores in the country.
