Samsung under investigation after two workers exposed to radiation
South Korean nuclear safety authorities have initiated an on-site investigation into the recent radiation exposure incident affecting two employees at a Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant. The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission confirmed the probe on Wednesday, per Bloomberg. The affected employees of the plant are reportedly showing abnormal symptoms on their fingers due to localized exposure, despite normal blood test results.
Incident occurred at Samsung's Giheung plant
The radiation exposure accident occurred on a production line at Samsung's Giheung plant, located approximately 40km south of Seoul, on Monday. In response to the accident, the nuclear organization has suspended the use of the equipment involved. The aim is to determine the cause of this incident. The employees are currently under care at the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences for further testing and monitoring.
Company's response to the radiation exposure incident
A spokesperson for Samsung Electronics has confirmed that the company is providing support to the affected employees and fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The spokesperson also assured that Samsung will do its utmost to prevent any such incidents from occurring in the future.
