Samsung could launch new "Rize" series smartphones next year
Despite topping global smartphone shipments for quite some time now, Samsung has been seen a worrying slump in sales. Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi remain a challenge in the budget segment whereas Apple and OnePlus dominate the premium range. However, to turn around things, Samsung has some major launches lined up for 2019, including new "Rize" series of smartphones. Here's more.
About Samsung's new Rize smartphone series
According to trademark applications filed by Samsung in the UK and Mexico, the company is working on a new brand of smartphones called "Samsung Rize". The applications specifically refer to three new smartphones named as Samsung Rize10, Samsung Rize20, and Samsung Rize30. However, given the trademark applications are just for names, we don't have clarity on what these phones will be like.
Reports suggest Galaxy S10 could be part of "Rize" series
According to LetsGoDigital, the new Rize branding could be planned for the upcoming S10 series which is expected to have three models - Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10 Lite. Moreover, previous rumors suggest that Samsung might be differentiating its tenth-anniversary flagships with a different name - as Apple did with the last year's iPhone X.
"Rize" naming could also be for new mid-range smartphones
According to 91mobiles, the "Rize" branding is for a mid-range series of phones. And this sounds possible given Samsung has already unveiled a range of new Infinity displays and an all-new One UI software. Hence, one can expect "Rize" series of smartphones to replace that mid-range Galaxy A-series to feature new displays, pack more cameras, and run on Android Pie-based software.
Samsung's foldable phone may also be associated with "Rize" branding
We know Samsung is working to release its first-ever foldable smartphone sometime in early 2019. And while Samsung has briefly teased the pocket-friendly smartphone-cum-tablet device, we still don't know what it will be called. Some refer to this foldable phone as Galaxy F while some call it Galaxy X. Hence, this "Rize" branding may also be associated with Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphone range.
