Samsung revamps Galaxy trade-in program: Check new changes

    What's the story

Samsung has made major changes to its Galaxy Trade-In program, allowing consumers to trade in their eligible Galaxy smartphones anytime during the year.

The revamped program, which is being launched today in South Korea and France, doesn't require customers to make a simultaneous new purchase anymore.

The move is part of Samsung's strategy "to boost the value of Galaxy devices" by offering "amazing savings" through trade-ins.

    Program management

Purchase requirement has now been removed

The revamped Galaxy Trade-In program will be handled by Likewize, a company that specializes in insurance and repairs.

Earlier, customers could only start a trade-in at the time of checkout on samsung.com or the company's app, and it was necessary to purchase a new device.

However, with the new changes, this purchase requirement has been removed.

    Extended access

    Samsung extends trade-in availability

The second major change in the Galaxy Trade-In program is its year-round availability.

Previously, in South Korea, trade-ins were only possible during certain periods, usually after major product launches.

But now, customers can trade in their eligible devices anytime of the year.

However, do note that this updated policy only applies to certain Samsung flagship phones.

    Program restrictions

Trade-in program limitations and future plans

The revamped trade-in program is limited to select Samsung flagships.

As of now, these are the Galaxy S20 series up to the S23, and foldables from the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 up to the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.

Notably, last year's Galaxy S24 and Z Flip/Fold 6 models are not eligible for trade-in under this scheme.

Samsung intends to expand this updated trade-in program to other markets later this year.
