Samsung to unveil Galaxy Note 9 on August 9
Samsung has sent invitations for an "Unpacked" event on August 9 in New York at 11am ET (8:30pm IST). While it's not specifically stated that the Galaxy Note 9 will be launched at the event, the invite features a picture of the S Pen stylus. Further, Note 8 was launched at a similar time last year. The physical design of the device will remain the same
The smartphone will look like its predecessor with the invitation hinting at a new yellow color. What is being highlighted is that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor for the China and US markets and the in-house Exynos 9810 processor for other global markets including India. Since the invitation focuses on the S Pen, its usage could have been expanded.
Upgraded camera, massive screen, overhauled virtual assistant
The phone will reportedly run a new version of Samsung's digital voice assistant Bixby with better natural language processing and faster response time. Further, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to feature 12MP dual camera sensors. In terms of display, it might go with the traditional 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Alleged images also reveal a bezel-less design.
Storage and battery upgrade
Reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 9 will come in the two storage options of 6GB RAM/256GB and 8GB RAM/512GB. It will pack a massive 4,000mAh battery. The Note 9 will most probably run Android 8.1 Oreo with the newest version of Samsung Experience on top. It could come with faster wireless charging support and feature a fingerprint sensor below the primary camera.
