iPhone SE 2 with wireless charging might see June launch
Apple is reportedly working on a new iPhone which will be similar to the iPhone SE but will support wireless charging. According to Luke Lin, an analyst for Digitimes Research, Apple is looking to launch the relatively inexpensive new iPhone in the second quarter of 2018. Lin's words match earlier rumors of a forthcoming second generation iPhone SE.
Size of the rumored second generation iPhone SE not known
According to Lin, the new phone is expected to have a glass back like the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X, but will lack the latter's 3D sensing capabilities. Lin, however, didn't mention the phone's size or specs. In August last year, Indian website Tekz24 claimed that the next iPhone SE would have 2GB RAM, 32GB/128GB internal storage, a larger 1,700 mAh battery.
There have been several rumors about the iPhone SE 2
After Tekz24's claim in August, China's Economic Daily News claimed in November that the second generation iPhone SE was scheduled for release in the first half of 2018 and would be assembled by Wistron at its plant in Bengaluru. Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce also claimed that Apple would launch a second generation iPhone SE targeting the mid-range smartphone segment.
Rumors suggest Apple will release three iPhones in 2018
Rumors also stated that Apple would launch three iPhones in 2018 - two with OLED screens and one with a LCD screen. These rumors all fall in line with reputed KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction that Apple would launch three phones in 2018, out of which the most affordable would be a TFT-LCD model which is expected to be priced around Rs. 42,500-49,000.
