6 new Apple products that could be launched this year
After a brilliant run for over a decade, Apple is having a stellar 2018, having become the first US company to reach a $1 trillion valuation. Apple's meteoric rise over the years, while largely being driven by iPhone sales, also leveraged on a stream of diverse, blockbuster products. Now, if rumors are to be believed, Apple has several interesting products lined up for 2018.
Reportedly, three new iPhones are headed your way
Last year, to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple released the iPhone X, a $999 flagship device. However, Apple's grand schemes took a hit following manufacturing delays, backlash over the high price, and owing to a maturing smartphone market. This year, Apple is working to launch three new iPhones - a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone with dual-SIM support and two OLED iPhones with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch displays.
Apple needs to buckle up in the smartwatch department
Despite having performed well with the Apple Watch 3, the tech giant will have to step up its game this year. With Fitbit's new Versa smartwatch having already gained popularity and new Android-based Wear OS watches lined up, the competition is fierce. Reportedly, Apple is working on Apple Watch 4, that will come with a 15% larger display, better battery life, and more accurate sensors.
A new iPad Pro is highly likely to be released
With the iPad having already received an upgrade in spring, it's highly likely that the iPad Pro will follow in fall. Microsoft has already unveiled its latest Surface devices, and Apple is expected to follow suit with an upgraded 11-inch iPad Pro model featuring the iPhone X's TrueDepth camera. The new iPad Pro is also expected to come with upgraded, top-of-the-line tablet specs.
The long-awaited wireless charging mat that Apple had promised
Although Apple had announced the AirPower wireless charging mat with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the device never saw the light of day. However, Apple had said that the device, which would be capable of charging iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods, would be released in 2018. Having made the promise, it's unlikely that Apple will be willing to face embarrassment over another delay.
Apple might make a foray into premium audio devices
Apple had always maintained a gold standard when it came to the audio quality of its earphones (and more recently, AirPods), and it seems the company is willing to take it further. The rumor mill has it that Apple is looking to release its own, studio-quality wireless headphones, and that makes sense given Apple Music's and Apple-owned Beats' dominance in the music consumption market.
Logic points toward the launch of a MacBook Air replacement
Although Apple's MacBook Pro devices have been upgraded, Apple's bestselling MacBook Air is hopelessly out of date. Thus, while still being conjecture at this point of time, it's quite possible Apple has a MacBook Air replacement. Rumors have hinted at a 13-inch replacement that'll form Apple's new entry-level laptops. It's unclear whether the name 'MacBook Air' will be retained.
