Rolls-Royce launches its first SUV Cullinan for $325,000
Luxury automaker Rolls-Royce has launched its first ever SUV Cullinan for $325,000 (Rs. 2.18 crore) and with it, officially entered the off-road territory. Named after the largest diamond known, the SUV can drive through all kinds of terrains including 21 inches of water, deep snow, and shifting desert sands. The huge, stately luxury SUV was first announced three years ago. Deliveries begin early 2019.
The Cullinan elevates 40 millimeters when it starts
The Cullinan is huge. It stands six feet tall and weighs 5,864 pounds. It sports angular sides, a high, flat top, and futuristic LEDs surrounding each headlight that give it a rectangular look. A sensor on the exterior door handles makes the coach doors automatically close from outside. On starting, it elevates 40 millimeters, which is its standard, commanding ride height.
The SUV can seat up to five people
The rear seat in the car comes in two configurations: a single, foldable bench seat that allows seating for three or two separate, cockpit-style, highly adjustable seats which has the car's drinks cabinet between them (with a built-in refrigerator). One variant also includes two rear-facing seats. The car sports "pavilion-style seating" so those in the back sit higher than those in the front.
All-wheel steering system the first in Rolls-Royce history
The Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-liter, twin-turbo V12 engine that gets 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. It promises the brand's famous "magic carpet" ride quality due to the all-wheel-drive SUV's self-leveling air suspension. Drivers can also use the all-wheel steering to negotiate tight areas. The car gives a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
Be protected with the Cullinan
The Cullinan has all safety technology in place including night vision, daytime and nighttime wildlife and pedestrian warning, an alertness assistant that helps avoid drowsy driving, a four-camera parking system with all-round visibility, active cruise control, and myriad crash-avoidance systems. The car features a high-resolution heads-up display, Wi-Fi, and standard navigation and entertainment systems. There are five USB ports around the cabin.
