Watch: Robot solves Rubik's cube in 0.38secs, breaks previous records
In 2016, a world record was set by a robot created by chipmaker Infineon, whose robot cracked the Rubik cube puzzle in 0.637 seconds. Now, a newly developed robot slams all past records by solving the puzzle in less than half a second: 0.38 seconds, to be exact. A video of the same has now gone viral on YouTube.
The robot solves the puzzle in just 21 moves
The robot, created by Ben Katz and Jared Di Carlo, is equipped with a set of 2 PlayStation Eye Cameras and a set of 6 Kollmorgen ServoDisc U9- series motors. It uses a specially designed AND board, which has been programmed in a way that each motor turns on and off independently. In addition, the robot uses the min2phase algorithm.

According to the creators, "The time is from the moment the keypress is registered on the computer, to when the last face is flipped. It includes image capture and computation time, and actually moving the cube." You can hardly see the robot solving the puzzle, unless you slow down the video. Theoretically speaking, the speed of the robot can further be increased. Hats off to the creators!
