Renault Captur Automatic SUV to launch in India in 2019
French automaker Renault launched its flagship SUV, the Captur, in India last year. However, the feature-rich subcompact SUV failed to strike a chord in a segment that is largely dominated by the Hyundai Creta or even Duster. Pushing forward, Renault has now decided to introduce the automatic variant of the petrol-powered Captur in India by early next year. Here's our roundup of the Renault Captur.
Renault Captur: At a glance
The Captur sports a modern European design with a curvy body, a bold chrome grille and diamond logo up front. The SUV gets projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a two-tone body color, and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. As far as interiors are concerned, the top variant comes with leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system with audio and navigation, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
Under the hood
Currently, the Captur is offered in petrol and diesel motors but with manual transmission only. The SUV gets a 1.5-litre K9k diesel engine that comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and churns out 108bhp at 4000rpm and 240Nm torque at 1750rpm. The petrol model, running on a 5-speed unit, gets a 1.5-litre motor and generates 104bhp at 5600rpm and 142Nm of torque at 4000rpm.
Renault Captur's sales dwarfed by Duster's impressive demand
From November 2017 to January 2018, Renault managed to sell around 1.700 units of its Captur SUV in India. In comparison, more than 3,000 units of the Duster were sold during the same period.
