Redmi Y2 first sale tomorrow: Here are all the details
Xiaomi's recently launched Redmi Y2 smartphone will go on sale in India starting tomorrow i.e. June 12. The smartphone will be available via Amazon, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores while offline partners will get it a little later. It has been priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB inbuilt storage variant, and Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB variant. Here are the details.
Redmi Y2 launch offers
Launch offers for Redmi Y2 include a Rs. 500 discount for ICICI Bank credit/debit cardholders. Additionally, those who buy the phone with Airtel will get an instant cashback of Rs. 1,800 and up to 240GB data free.
At a glance
The Redmi Y2 runs Xiaomi's MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and sports a 5.99-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and full screen gestures. However, Xiaomi hasn't followed popular trends and has retained bezels on the Redmi Y2. The phone will be available in three different colours - Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold.
The cameras are the highlights of the budget smartphone
The major highlights of the youth-centric selfie-focused handset are its cameras. The vertically stacked dual camera setup on the back of the phone comes a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor backed by AI-based capabilities. On the front, the phone gets a 16MP selfie Super Pixel sensor with features such as an LED selfie-light, AI Beautify 4.0, and Face Unlock capabilities.

The dual-SIM Redmi Y2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset (up to 2GHz), an Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/ 4GB of RAM, and a 3,080mAh battery. It comes with 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, expandable via micro-SD. As for sensors, the smartphone gets an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, digital compass, a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, gyroscope, infrared, and a proximity sensor.
