Redmi Smart Display 8, a touchscreen-enabled smart speaker, launched
Expanding its range of smart home products, Xiaomi has launched a new Redmi Smart Display 8 in China. It comes with a portable form-factor, a touchscreen display, a built-in camera for video calls, and a smart speaker that is powered by Xiao AI, the company's digital assistant. However, the global pricing and availability of the device haven't been announced yet.
Redmi Smart Display 8: At a glance
The Redmi Smart Display 8 offers a dual-tone design with a blacked-out finish on the front, and contrasting white borders. The front section is largely occupied by an 8-inch touchscreen display that offers a 178-degree wide-viewing angle and has a special lamination that reduces reflection. Below the screen, there is a built-in speaker that is covered with a mesh.

The Redmi Smart Display 8 comes with the third-generation of Xiao AI assistant and it can be used to stream videos, control music, and even manage other smart devices in the house. The Bluetooth-enabled smart speaker also has an HD camera that allows you to make video calls. It also has a custom kids mode that provides kids-focused content.
Pricing and availability
The Redmi Smart Display 8 is priced at CNY 349 (approximately Rs. 3,800) and it will be available via the company's crowdfunding platform from March 27 onwards. However, the global pricing and availability details of the device are yet to be revealed.

Separately, Xiaomi has also launched its flagship Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom Edition smartphones. The flagship handsets come with an all-screen design, AMOLED display, 64MP quad camera, and flagship-grade internals. Alongside, the company has also introduced a 98-inch Redmi Smart TV which offers 4K resolution, MEMC technology, Dolby Audio, as well as high-end internals including 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
