Redmi Note 9 Pro Max v/s Realme 6 Pro
Taking on Realme's newly-launched Realme 6 Pro, arch-rival Xiaomi has now introduced the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India. Both the mid-rangers come with modern designs, high-resolution screens, versatile quad cameras, fast charging support, and the new 8nm Snapdragon 720G chipset that was announced earlier this year. But given the identical hardware and design, which one of the two should you buy?
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max v/s Realme 6 Pro: Design
Design-wise, both phones come with punch-hole displays, glass bodies, and side-mounted physical fingerprint readers. The Realme offering gets a pill-shaped cut-out whereas the Redmi mid-ranger sports a smaller, center-aligned punch-hole. On the rear, the Realme 6 Pro opts for a flashy 3D gradient finish while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max settles for a subtle two-tone design. Winner: You be the judge.
All about the screen
The Realme 6 Pro comes with a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a full-HD+ resolution of 1080x2400 pixels and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate to offer smoother scrolling and animations. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max offers a 6.67-inch LCD panel with full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) resolution, Gorilla Glass 5 covering, and 60Hz refresh rate. Winner: Realme 6 Pro.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The quad-rear camera array on the Redmi mid-weight includes a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it has a 32MP front-facing camera. The Realme contender also gets a similar setup but with a 12MP telephoto lens instead of the depth camera. On the front, it has a 16MP+8MP dual-lens unit. Winner: Tie.
Under the hood
Both the handsets are powered by a Snapdragon 720G processor, combined with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. Under the hood, the Redmi handset packs a 5,020mAh battery with 33W fast charging support while the Realme 6 Pro gets a 4,300mAh battery which supports 30W fast charging. They both support all the latest connectivity options including NavIC. Winner: Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.
Pricing: The key factor
The Realme 6 Pro costs Rs. 16,999 for the entry-level 6GB/64GB model, Rs. 17,999 for the mid-end 6GB/128GB configuration, and Rs. 18,999 for the 8GB/128GB model. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 14,999 for the entry-level 6GB/64GB variant, Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB/128GB model, and Rs. 18,999 for the 8GB/128GB option.
How things stack up?
They both are pretty evenly matched with their premium designs, 64MP quad-camera setup, and the same internals. However, the Realme 6 Pro has a better 90Hz screen, a versatile dual-lens front camera, and a dedicated telephoto lens whereas the Redmi handset has advantages of a bigger battery, faster fast-charging, and a cheaper price-tag (except the top variant). Winner: Realme 6 Pro, as overall package.
