Redmi K50, K50 Pro smartphones launched: Check price and features
Xiaomi has launched two new Redmi K50 series smartphones in China, namely K50 and K50 Pro. The line-up starts at CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs. 28,700) and goes up to CNY 3,999 (around Rs. 47,800). The phones will be up for grabs in China from March 22. The company is yet to announce when the handsets will be available outside of China.
Why does this story matter?
Xiaomi's Redmi K50 series has been the subject of a lot of anticipation in the last couple of months. The new K50 and K50 Pro join the K50 Gaming Edition that had debuted last month. However, contrary to expectations, the company did not introduce the high-end K50 Pro+ at the launch event. We assume that it will arrive at a later date.
The handsets feature a 120Hz AMOLED display
The Redmi K50 and K50 Pro feature a centrally-aligned punch-hole cut-out, slim bezels, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The handsets bear a 6.67-inch QHD+ (1440x3200 pixels) AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 480Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. They are offered in Black, Iridescent, Silver, and Green color options.
Redmi K50 Pro boasts a 108MP main camera
The Redmi K50 flaunts a triple rear camera setup, including a 48MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. The K50 Pro has a similar setup except for a 108MP primary sensor. Up front, the handsets sport a 20MP selfie snapper.
Redmi K50 is fueled by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip
Redmi K50 and K50 Pro are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The former packs a 5,500mAh battery with 67W fast-charging, while the latter houses a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast-charging. They boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 and also have a 7-layer vapor chamber cooling system.
