Redmi K40 bags BIS certification, may launch under POCO branding
Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is gearing up to introduce its K40 model soon. In the latest development, the handset has been spotted on the BIS certification site with model number M2012K11AI, hinting at its launch in India. Separately, tipster Mukul Sharma has claimed that Redmi K40 will arrive in the global and Indian markets as a rebranded POCO phone. Here's our roundup.
Redmi K40: At a glance
The Redmi K40 will reportedly feature a center-aligned punch-hole cut-out display with slim bezels and an integrated fingerprint sensor. On the rear, it will house a rectangular quad camera module. The handset will offer a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Redmi K40 will reportedly pack a quad rear camera setup comprising a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, it will sport a 30MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood
The Redmi K40 will reportedly be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 870 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. It will run on Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 and pack a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support. For connectivity, the handset should offer support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 5G, GPS, and a Type-C port.
Pricing and availability
Redmi has already confirmed that the K40 model will be launched on February 25 in China. As for the pricing, the company's GM Lu Weibing had earlier teased that K40 will start at CYN 2,999 (roughly Rs. 34,000).
