Redmi K20 teasers confirm Snapdragon 855, 48MP camera, and more
Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is working to launch a premium phone in India and China. Dubbed as Redmi K20, the phone will sport an all-screen design and flagship grade internals including a Snapdragon 855 chipset. In the latest development, the company has released a bunch of teasers, confirming specifications and features such as 48MP rear camera, in-screen fingerprint sensor, and 4,000mAh battery. Redmi K20: At a glance
The Redmi K20 will feature an all-screen design with no notch or display hole for the selfie snapper. In fact, the front-facing camera will be housed in a motorized pop-up unit. As per an earlier leak, the phone will offer a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, an in-screen fingerprint sensor has also been confirmed.
Redmi K20 to offer an improved in-display fingerprint scanner
Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing, in a Weibo post, has given away details about K20's optical in-display fingerprint scanner. The setup will comprise a 3P lens-type small macro camera with 7.2μm ultra-large pixels. The upgraded hardware is said to offer 100% larger photosensitive area as compared to the previous generation along with a 15% larger finger scanning area.
Redmi K20 to come with a 48MP main camera
According to one of the teasers, the Redmi K20 will come with a 48MP main sensor. The other sensors of the rumored triple-lens camera setup are tipped to be a 13MP (f/2.4) secondary sensor and another 8MP (f/2.4) sensor. Up front, the phone is expected to offer a 20MP selfie snapper with an f/2.0 aperture.
Under the hood
The upcoming Redmi flagship will be powered by Qualcomm's top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 chipset. Rumors also point towards 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is likely to be UFS 2.0 format. Under the hood, the Redmi K20 will house a 4,000mAh battery and may come with support for 27W fast charging via a USB Type-C port.
Redmi K20 will launch in India soon
The Redmi K20 will launch in China on May 28. Meanwhile, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed that the phone will arrive "soon" in India as well.
