Redmi 8A Dual, Redmi powerbanks launched in India: Details here
Xiaomi-owned Redmi has launched a budget-friendly Redmi 8A Dual smartphone in India today. The new handset arrives as an incremental upgrade to the Redmi 8. Alongside the smartphone, the company has also entered a new product category by introducing a couple of power banks. Earlier, there were speculations that the new product could be a RedmiBook 13 laptop, but that didn't happen.
Redmi 8A Dual retains the design of Redmi 8A
The Redmi 8A retains the same waterdrop notched design of its predecessor, the Redmi 8A. However, the back panel got updated with a dual-lens camera unit, new color finishes, and an "Aura X Grip" textured design that is touted to offer an improved grip. The handset features a 6.22-inch HD+ (720x1520 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The rear camera on the Redmi 8A Dual comes with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. They support AI-based Portrait mode and scene detection. On the front, there is an 8MP snapper that supports AI Selfie Portrait and AI Face unlock features.
Under the hood
The Redmi 8A Dual is powered by an entry-level Snapdragon 439 chipset, combined with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage (expandable up to 512GB). Under the hood, it packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. The handset also supports all the latest connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and wireless FM radio support.

Alongside the Redmi 8A Dual, the company has also launched two new power banks. The 10,000mAh unit supports 10W charging, while the 20,000mAh model delivers up to 18W fast charging. Both devices come with dual Type-A input ports, a micro-USB output port, and a Type-C output port. Further, they support two-way fast charging and a low-power mode for charging Bluetooth earphones or fitness bands.
