Reddit's mobile app gets new features for better comment interaction
Reddit is introducing updates to its mobile application for iOS and Android, aimed at enhancing user interaction with comments. The company's objective is to remove hurdles and reduce friction points and offer a more comment-centric approach. When users tap on the comments button on a post in their feed, they will now be directed straight to the top of the comments section. Previously, users had to scroll through the entire post page to reach the comments.
Instagram's new update will make comments load faster
The update will enable comments to load faster and open instantly when users tap on a post's comment icon. A "context bar" will also be displayed at the screen's top, presenting the original post's content in a condensed format. Users can return to the original post or delve into its content by tapping the thumbnail.
Simplified navigation to comments across different post types
The update also simplifies navigation to comments across different post types such as text, video, and images. Users can now swipe left to switch between new posts and swipe up to directly access the comment section, regardless of the media type in the original post. However, this feature might cause some users to miss details in a post if they frequently tap on the comments icon or fail to scroll up.
Reddit introduces a unified media player
In addition to these changes, Reddit is introducing a unified media player that allows users to swipe through comments and view new content. This feature can be activated by tapping on an image or video within a post. The company believes that conversations cannot flow smoothly if navigation varies by post type, hence the consistent conversation navigation across all types of posts.
