    What's the story

Arch-rivals Realme and Xiaomi are once again taking on each other with their respective mid-range handsets, the Realme X and Redmi K20.

Both smartphones look to attract buyers with an in-trend all-screen design, respectable cameras, and mid-level internals.

However, given the difference in pricing and memory-storage configuration, should you buy the Realme X or the Redmi K20?

    Here's our head-to-head comparison.

    Design

    Realme X v/s Redmi K20: At a glance

Up front, both phones feature the same all-screen design look achieved by opting for a pop-up camera over display punch holes or notches.

However, things are really different on the back. The Realme handset gets a polycarbonate chassis with a regular dual-tone gradient design while the Redmi K20 flaunts a more premium all-glass body and a unique 3D gradient pattern.

    Winner: Xiaomi's Redmi K20.

    Display

    All about the screen

The Redmi K20 sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution of 2340x1080 pixels and HDR support.

On the other hand, the Realme X offers a slightly larger 6.53-inch AMOLED screen with the same full-HD+ resolution as the Xiaomi contender.

Moreover, both displays come with 430-nits of brightness and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Winner: It is really a tie here.

    Primary Camera

    For the shutterbugs

On the imaging front, the Realme X offers a dual-lens rear camera setup comprising a 48MP (f/1.7) main sensor and a 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor.

    In comparison, the Redmi K20 comes with a triple-lens array featuring a 48MP (f/1.75) main sensor, a 13MP (f/2.4) wide-angle sensor, and another 8MP (f/2.4) telephone sensor with 2x optical zoom.

Winner: Redmi K20 for its advanced camera setup.

    Selfie Camera

    For the love of selfies

Today, a quality selfie camera is as important as any other feature on the phone. And on this front, both handsets feature a pop-up selfie camera with the Realme X housing a 16MP (f/2.0) sensor and the Redmi K20 offering a 20MP (f/2.0) sensor.

However, the pop-up mechanism on the Realme X is noticeably faster than that on Xiaomi's handset.

    Winner: You decide.

    Internals

    All the important stuff

The Redmi K20 is backed by an all-new 8nm Snapdragon 730 chipset, paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage.

On the other hand, the Realme X is powered by a 10nm Snapdragon 710 chipset, coupled with 4GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

Under the hood, both smartphones run their own forked versions of Android Pie.

Winner: Redmi K20 for its superior processor.

    Nitty-gritty

    From battery to biometrics

The Realme X is backed by a 3,765mAh battery which supports 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging while the Redmi K20 gets a slightly bigger 4,000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging.

In terms of biometric authentication, both handsets feature optical in-display fingerprint sensors. However, the unlocking experience on Realme X is a tad bit faster.

    Winner: You be the judge.

    Information

    Pricing: The key factor

The Realme X costs Rs. 16,999 for the 4GB/128GB variant and Rs. 19,999 for the 8GB/128GB model. In comparison, Redmi K20 is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB RAM/64GB configuration and Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB/128GB option.

    Our result

    How things stack up!

Undoubtedly, the Realme X is a solid package of modern design, good cameras, and dependable performance. However, on paper, the Redmi K20 has taken things up a level with a superior processor and an improved camera.

But given the price difference, if you are not into heavy gaming and want a smartphone that performs well on all fronts, Realme X is a good all-rounder.
