Realme is also working on a 48MP camera phone
Realme has some solid plans for 2019 and one of them is to release a 48MP camera smartphone. Citing Realme CEO Madhav Sheth, a report claims that the company is developing a smartphone with a 48MP camera sensor - a contender to Xiaomi's all-new Redmi Note 7. Moreover, Sheth has also confirmed the launch timeline of its upcoming Realme 3 smartphone. Here's more.
The high megapixels smartphones' trend is here to stay
While 2018 was about notches, the current year seems to be about cameras - more sensors and mega-sensors. So far, we've already seen Honor View 20 and Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7 sport 48MP rear cameras. Similarly, the Motorola P40 and Redmi Note 7 Pro are also expected to house this mighty sensor. And now, Realme is also working on the same.
But, what are the benefits of a 48MP camera?
Talking of 48MP camera sensors, currently, we have Sony IMX586 or Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensors that offer such high pixel count. The benefit of these sensors is that they use a 4-in-1 pixel binning technique to offer higher quality low-light images equivalent to a 12MP 1.6-micron pixel camera. Further, these sensors can offer 4x digital zoom or in other words, sharp 12MP pictures.
Realme to expand it portfolio with Realme 3
Currently, Realme has four smartphones in its lineup - Realme C1, Realme 2, Realme U1 and Realme 2 Pro. And as the latest addition, the company is working to launch Realme 3 sometime in the first quarter of 2019, according to Sheth. But, it is unclear whether the 48MP camera phone would come under Realme 3 series or as a brand new lineup.
The company is also planning to launch branded retail stores
Realme is also planning to open exclusive experience stores in India in the second half of 2019. According to Sheth, the company is currently working on "structure and principles" while also finding the location for its first branded retail store.
We may also see Realme A1 get launched sometime "soon"
Last month, reputed tipster Ishan Agarwal claimed that the company will "soon" launch Realme A1 as a new budget smartphone in India. He also claimed that the phone will be positioned below the Realme U1. Moreover, a leak revealed that Realme A1 will come with a waterdrop notched display, 13MP+2MP dual rear-camera, 8MP selfie camera, MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, 2GB/3GB RAM and 4,200mAh battery.
