Indian Railways testing 'SwaRail' app for ticket bookings and more
What's the story
The Ministry of Railways has introduced a new application, SwaRail, to provides a wide range of services from ticket bookings to train inquiries.
It also offers assistance through an inbuilt "Rail Madad" feature, hoping to improve user experience with its unified and intuitive interface.
Initially under testing phase, the app combines various railway services into one platform, doing away with the need for multiple apps and saving space on devices.
Its user-friendly interface is aimed at significantly enhancing customer experience.
Features
A comprehensive solution
SwaRail would be a one-stop solution for all railway-related services.
It addresses a plethora of user requirements including reserved and unreserved ticket bookings, platform and parcel bookings, train inquiries, PNR status checks, food orders, complaint management etc.
The app also promises features like single sign-on, easy onboarding/sign-up process, and simplified login procedure.
It is limited to an initial user base of 1,000. Users can download SwaRail from the Play Store and App Store.

Dilip Kumar, the Executive Director of Information and Publicity at the Railway Board, said, "The core emphasis of the app is to enhance user experience through a seamless and clean user interface."
"It not only combines all services in one place but also integrates several services to provide users with a complete package of Indian Railway services," he added.
SwaRail is a product of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.
