Western Digital's new Pokemon-themed microSD cards are simply adorable
Western Digital, a leading data storage company, has launched a new series of SanDisk microSD cards. These cards are the result of a collaboration with The Pokemon Company, and are specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch. The SD cards feature officially licensed Pokemon designs, and are available for purchase from the Western Digital Store as well as select physical and digital retailers.
A look at the new microSD cards
The new line of SanDisk microSD cards comes in three different capacities. The highest capacity card is the 1TB SanDisk Pokemon Snorlax microSD card, featuring a light baby blue color and a graphic of the Snorlax Pokemon. Next is the 512GB Pokemon Gengar card, which comes in a purple color and features an image of Gengar, a ghost and poison type Pokemon. The smallest is the 256GB Pokemon Pikachu microSD card, sporting neon yellow with a cute image of Pikachu.
Performance and pricing
All three models prominently display Nintendo Switch branding, ensuring compatibility with the console. They offer read speeds of up to 100MB/s and write speeds of 90MB/s, aligning with Nintendo's recommended specifications. The 1TB model is priced at $129.99 (around ₹11,000), the 512GB version at $54.99 (roughly ₹4,600), and the 256GB unit at $32.99 (approximately ₹2,800). This makes them slightly more expensive than similar microSD cards on the market, due to their unique Pokemon design and Nintendo branding.
