Now access news, live TV, entertainment, games in Paytm Inbox
Digital payments platform Paytm has added new infotainment features to "Inbox," its in-app messaging service. Users can now access in-app content like live TV, news, cricket, entertainment videos, and games delivered directly in their Paytm Inbox. This content can be streamed across categories on-the-go and for free. The update is already live on iOS and will soon come to Android as well.
Ensuring the best of infotainment services
For the new infotainment feature, Paytm has partnered with several content providers like Aaj Tak, Bloomberg Quint, India Today, Mirror Now, Zoom, ET Now, 9XM, Hungama, UC News and Yupp TV, among others.
Paytm has more than 120 million monthly active users? Really?
Paytm claims that Inbox alone sees 120 million monthly active users (MAUs). This figure sounds untrue when compared to popular instant messaging app WhatsApp, which boasts of 200 million MAUs. While WhatsApp was launched in India nine years ago, Inbox was just launched in November last year. Generally, one is counted as an MAU if he opens an app even once in 30 days.
Paytm expects to increase app usage with new Inbox features
With the host of additions to Inbox, Paytm expects to see strong growth and a surge in the number of sessions per user, along with an increased time spent on the app. It will continue to launch new features with a focus on regional content.
Paytm expanding into rich messaging while WhatsApp entering digital payments
With Inbox, which allows users to chat with contacts and send and request money at the same time, Paytm entered rich messaging to make the platform a wholesome experience. On the other hand, WhatsApp recently entered the digital payments segment with "WhatsApp Pay," through which users can send and receive money on the chat app itself.
