This "smart diaper" tracks your baby's pee. What, now?
Pampers has introduced, what it claims, to be the world's first all-in-one connected care system. The package comes with two activity sensors for diapers, a Wi-Fi video monitor and an app that records all the "data". And while we have seen technology do great things, the Lumi system is meant to ease your first year parenting troubles. Here's all about it.
Here's how these diapers monitor your baby's pee
The Lumi diapers use a sensor to automatically determine the wetness of the diaper and alert you accordingly. However, the sensors will have to be replaced every three months and the fact that they work with only Lumi by Pampers diapers can be somewhat disappointing. Meanwhile, they can't detect baby's poops. For that, you'll have to rely on the "sniff test".
The diaper sensor can also track sleep pattern
Alongside tracking your baby's pee, the Lumi smart diaper can also track your baby's sleep pattern. The sensor automatically tracks your baby's sleep and provides you with all the information related to their sleep patterns.
Separately, Wi-Fi video camera will measure temperature and humidity
Notably, the package also comes with a Logitech security camera which offers a wide-angle 1080p view of the room along with night vision and two-way audio support for video calls. The smart cam is touted to measure the temperature and humidity. You can also use the Lumi for Pampers app (available on iOS and Android) to see the live feed and other insights.
Pampers is yet to reveal pricing details
The Lumi by Pampers kit will be available for purchase in the fall and we expect the company to reveal the prices at the launch itself. However, you can sign up to join the waiting list.
