OnePlus releases OxygenOS 9.0.5, improves OnePlus 6T's Screen Unlock
OnePlus's latest flagship, the OnePlus 6T, came with a new Screen Unlock feature - company's name for in-display fingerprint scanning technology. And while the tech giant claimed an unlock speed of 0.35 seconds, the Screen Unlock mechanism did have some odd misses. Notably, OnePlus has now released OxygenOS 9.0.5 to further improve this feature. Here's everything to know about it.
Here are the details about OxygenOS 9.0.5
The OxygenOS 9.0.5 update has a size of about 94MB and is being rolled out via the OTA method. As per the official changelog, the update brings improvements for Screen Unlock and general bug fixes and optimizations. Previously, the OxygenOS 9.0.4 update also introduced some refinements for Screen Unlock along with improvements in full-screen gestures, Nightscape mode, Studio Lighting, and Android November security patch.
OnePlus 6T: At a glance
To recall, OnePlus 6T features a downsized waterdrop-like notched display with a marginally slimmer bottom bezel as seen on the OnePlus 6, to boast an increased screen-to-body ratio of 86%. With the new notch, the notification LED light has been killed. On the rear, there's a dual-camera setup housed in a glass panel but no dedicated scanner - thanks to the in-display fingerprint sensor.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
OnePlus 6T sports a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 16-megapixel (f/1.7) main sensor, paired with a 20-megapixel (f/1.7) secondary sensor and LED flash - same as OnePlus 6. However, the company has offered an improved Portrait mode and an all-new Nightscene which offers better images in low-light. Up front, the 6T retains its predecessor's 16MP (f/2.0) RGB camera that assists Face unlock feature.
Under the hood
Internally, the OnePlus 6T is same as the OnePlus, except for a bigger battery and new OS. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of non-expandable storage. The phone packs 3,700mAh battery with support for 20W Dash Charge and runs Android Pie-based Oxygen OS 9.0.3 that offers revamped gesture-based navigation.
