OnePlus 6 users facing battery-draining issue after latest update
The latest version of OxygenOS, which brought important updates, is now said to be causing massive battery draining issues for OnePlus 6 users. Taking to the OnePlus official forum, several users have reported a battery drain of upto 50% after updating to the latest Oxygen OS 5.1.8 version released last week. Here's more about the issue.
This is what one of the users complained
"I don't know why but my OP6 has been draining the battery really fast since the 5.1.8 update. The screen is pulling most power and I only get like 5-6 hours of screen time," said Aays, a OnePlus 6 user. "Before the update, I had like 11-12 hours, maybe even more with the same amount of usage," he added.
Some users also facing glitches with camera app, game mode
Apart from the battery draining issue that has affected several OnePlus 6 users, some of them have also been facing glitches with the Camera App and gaming mode after updating to the OxygenOS 5.1.8 firmware.
Phone's screen may be responsible for the abnormal battery drain
According to users' posts, it appears that OnePlus 6 display may be the reason for this abnormal battery drain. "After charging to 100% and using the phone like I always do, I got 6.5 hours of screen time with the screen pulling almost 50% of the power," a user posted on the OnePlus forum.
Until OnePlus releases a fix, here are some workarounds
For some users, turning off Ambient Display has resolved the issue, while for some others, turning off mobile data, when not in use, has given positive results. Further, you can also try and downgrade to Oxygen 5.1.7 or previous version for stable battery performance.
