OPPO could soon launch world's first smartphone with 10GB RAM
OPPO, and not Vivo, will launch the world's first smartphone with 10GB RAM. However, it won't be an entirely new phone but a high-end variant of OPPO's recently launched flagship - Find X. Notably, an OPPO Find X variant with 10GB of RAM has received certification from Chinese mobile certification site TENNA, hinting at an impending launch. Here's everything we know so far.
Here's what we know about Find X 10GB RAM variant
An OPPO Find X variant with 10GB RAM and 256GB storage was recently certified by TENAA - a Chinese mobile certification portal. This suggests the phone will soon be launched, at least in China for now. And though little is known about this phone, OPPO is expected to retain all other features and specs of Find X.
#JustAThought: Do we really need 10GB of RAM?
Well, RAM is required to run multiple apps and play the latest games (because mobile GPUs don't have their stand-alone VRAM and use system's memory). But frankly, we don't need this much RAM for our day-to-day usage unless one has to run a heavy software, write codes or test apps. Hence, 10GB RAM on a smartphone is definitely a marketing gimmick than present-day necessity.
Meanwhile, here's a look at Find X's features and specs
The OPPO Find X's design in itself is a head-turner. Having eliminated the 'notch', the OPPO flagship features a bezel-less 6.42-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It has a never-before-achieved 93.8% screen-to-body ratio. Of course, the motorized camera module, which allows for a fully bezel-less screen, steals the cake in terms of design.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
Find X gets a dual rear camera setup which comprises a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and LED flash, paired with a 20-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The primary camera comes with AI portraits and AI Scene Recognition technology. On the front, there's a 25-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also supports 3D lighting for AI-powered portraits.
Under the hood
OPPO Find X is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage (non-expandable). The phone supports dual-SIM Nano cards, runs Android Oreo 8.1-based ColorOS 5.1 and packs a 3,730mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charging technology. Connectivity options on the phone include USB Type-C port, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, and GPS.
