OPPO Find X fails bend test: Watch video
Thanks to YouTuber Zack of JerryRigEverything channel, we know how durable modern day smartphones are. Zack has so far tested over 100 flagship smartphones and the latest one to face music was OPPO's motorized marvel, the OPPO Find X. In a series of tests, OPPO Find X was put to a scratch, burn and bend test and here's how the phone fared.
OPPO Find X: Scratch test
On Moh's scale of hardness, the OPPO Find X screen got visible scratches at level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7. This, however, is standard for all modern smartphones as the screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Notably, the rear glass panel was more resistant to razor scratches while the metal body remained solid but got scuffed with a razor blade.
OPPO Find X: Burn test
When subjected to a lighter flame for about 14 seconds, the OPPO Find X's AMOLED display showed a white burn. It should be noted that AMOLED panels show white burn marks which are permanent in nature which is unlike LCD panels which gradually recover. That said, the burn marks on AMOLED panels did not seem to affect Find X's touch functionality.
OPPO Find X: Bend test
In the bend test, OPPO Find X failed miserably. When the pressure was applied using bare hands, the display panel shattered and cracked open - something previous flagships (around 90%) like Vivo Nex had survived when subjected to the same abuse. Notably, while the phone's metal frame did fine, there wasn't enough fortification to support the brittle and fragile glass panels on both sides.
