You can now get answers from GQ, Vogue on ChatGPT
OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, has entered into a multi-year agreement with Conde Nast. The partnership will allow OpenAI to feature content from renowned publications such as Vogue, The New Yorker, and GQ within its products. These include the AI-driven ChatGPT and SearchGPT prototype. The financial details of this long-term deal have not been disclosed.
Permission to train on Conde Nast content
As part of the agreement, OpenAI has secured rights to use Conde Nast's content for training purposes. This deal follows a series of similar agreements that OpenAI has made with other media outlets such as TIME magazine, Financial Times, Axel Springer (owner of Business Insider), France's Le Monde and Spain's Prisa Media. The list also includes News Corp, Vox, The Atlantic and Associated Press.
Commitment to accuracy and integrity in news
Brad Lightcap, COO at OpenAI, emphasized the company's dedication to collaborating with Conde Nast and other news publishers. He stated that as AI becomes more integral in news discovery and delivery, it is crucial to maintain accuracy, integrity, as well as respect for quality reporting. This commitment comes amid challenges faced by news and digital media, due to technology companies impacting their ability to monetize content.
AI-powered search engine and publisher feedback
In July, OpenAI introduced its AI-powered search engine, SearchGPT. The company is now working with news partners to gather feedback on the design and performance of this new tool. This initiative positions Conde Nast as the latest addition to a growing list of publishers who have formed partnerships with OpenAI.
OpenAI partnership beneficial for Conde Nast
Conde Nast's CEO Roger Lynch spoke about the benefits of the deal with OpenAI. He said, "Our partnership with OpenAI begins to make up for some of that lost revenue, allowing us to continue to protect and invest in our journalism and creative endeavours."
