OnePlus Watch to debut alongside 9 series on March 23
OnePlus will announce its first-ever, full-fledged smartwatch alongside the flagship 9 series of smartphones on March 23, an official teaser has confirmed. Likely to be called OnePlus Watch, it will be the company's second wearable after the OnePlus Band that was launched in January this year. The smartwatch will sport a circular dial and focus on health, fitness, as well as sleep tracking.
Take a look at the teaser
OnePlus Watch will have a round dial and swappable straps
Unlike the OnePlus 9 smartphones, the Watch has been extremely well guarded from leaking on the internet. However, some design schematics and the latest teasers have confirmed that it will have a circular dial with brushed aluminium or stainless steel body and swappable silicone/leather straps. The bottom side will house all the sensors required for monitoring vitals like heart rate and blood oxygen saturation.
It may run on a proprietary operating system
According to the reports, the OnePlus Watch will not be running on Google's Wear OS. Instead, it will boot a custom operating system and connect to smartphones via Bluetooth. It is also speculated to be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 4100 chipset.
The wearable will offer a host of fitness-related features
The OnePlus Watch is expected to come with features like continuous blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring, sleep tracking, as well as real-time heart rate monitoring. It should also offer support for various exercise modes like running, swimming, and cycling, as well as productivity functions like answering calls or replying to notifications. The smartwatch is likely to be offered in two variants: Wi-Fi-only and LTE.
OnePlus Watch: Pricing and availability
The official pricing and availability details of the OnePlus Watch will be announced at the time of the launch, which will take place on March 23. However, considering the market competitors, it is likely to cost around Rs. 15,000-20,000.
