OnePlus TV inching closer to launch: Here's all about it
Just as technology giants continue to focus on foldables and smartwatches, OnePlus is looking to venture into a completely different smart home category. The company is working on a "premium, flagship" smart TV in hopes of creating a "total connected" experience for homes. Now, we have not seen this television, but reports indicate it might be launching pretty soon. Here's everything about it.
OnePlus TV remote controller gets Bluetooth certification
Just a few days back, a OnePlus remote controller with model number RC-001A was certified by the Bluetooth SIG. The device was spotted online, which seems to suggest that the OnePlus TV might be coming out soon. It is expected to have a range of features, but going by this listing, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity is definitely on the cards.
What else to expect from OnePlus TV
Apart from Bluetooth support, the listing doesn't tell much about the upcoming television. However, going by rumors, it is expected to feature a 4K display with HDR10+ support and high-resolution audio. The panel, according to famous tipster Ishan Agarwal, is likely to be LCD or QLED, the quantum dot infused panels commonly seen on Samsung televisions.
Wireless connectivity features for content streaming
While confirming the development of the smart television, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had said they would focus on creating a connected experience. As such, we expect the device to come with a range of intelligent connectivity features, which would let you stream content seamlessly from your smartphone or the web as well as sync with apps and IoT devices.
Launch likely in weeks
According to Agarwal's sources, OnePlus TV is likely to launch soon. The timeline still remains unclear, but there is a good chance of launch in the coming days or weeks. The price of the television also remains unclear, but going by the hefty price tags kept by Samsung, LG, and Sony, we expect OnePlus to offer a more lucrative deal.
