OnePlus to launch a new product on March 3
OnePlus is set to showcase a new product on March 3, according to several teasers shared by the company's official social media accounts. OnePlus India has also tweeted a short video related to the upcoming product, revealing a few metallic mechanical parts of something that looks like a machine. However, the new product is unlikely to be the much-awaited OnePlus 8 series. Here's more.
Take a look at the teaser video
OnePlus has a surprise for us but what is it?
The 13-second video teaser is titled, "2020 is the year of surprises. Can you guess what's coming up?" The clip doesn't reveal much to ascertain what exactly this product is. That said, the company's UK twitter account has confirmed the new product is not a phone or commercial product, meaning we won't see the OnePlus 8 smartphones, or OnePlus smartwatch or OnePlus wireless earbuds.
It is a 'unique project', highlights an official tweet
OnePlus' UK twitter account has also shared a bunch of images that reveal mechanical parts of a machine - similar to what the video showcases. The company says it is "focusing on a unique project" and would welcome ideas from the OnePlus community.
Did someone say OnePlus Robot?
In one of the tweets, a OnePlus official has stated: "Robots are cool." Hence, it could be that OnePlus is working on an industrial robot and that makes sense for a "unique project." Perhaps, it could be an Apple Liam-like automated disassembly system that can help take apart individual components from old phones for material recycling.
Recently, OnePlus also showed off Concept One smartphone
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, OnePlus unveiled its Concept One smartphone, which debuts a disappearing rear camera. The handset uses an electrochromic glass technology that can turn transparent or opaque to reveal or hide the camera sensors.
