Now, you can suggest new software features to OnePlus
In a bid to improve its phones, OnePlus has launched a campaign calling the public to suggest new features for OxygenOS. The program, dubbed IDEAS, gives the entire OnePlus community, from fans to customers, a chance to take their idea to the company and get rewarded for the same (if it's good enough). Here's all you need to know about it.
Initiative to submit new software features, anything to everything
Under the new initiative, OnePlus Community members will get access to a dedicated portal to submit ideas on new OxygenOS features. The portal opens a form, which you can then use to detail the whole idea, complete with what the feature is, what problem does it aim to solve, and how it can be implemented in the OS.
OnePlus will reward top submissions, chosen by its community
Once you submit an idea, it will become visible to everyone in the OnePlus community, along with other submitted ideas. From there, members can like or comment on your idea to express how much they agree with your suggestions. The most-liked ideas, OnePlus says, will be rewarded, with some being implemented into the OS.
What kind of rewards will be given away
OnePlus will also add 20 Community credits into your account, post submission. If that idea features among the top 5 most-liked submissions, you will get a pair of OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 headphones with 1,000 community credits and customized community badge. And, finally, if the company chooses to adopt your idea, you will be flown out to a OnePlus event for free.
Last date for submission is April 30
The campaign has started and will run for a couple of months till April 30. You can submit only one idea every day, and the OnePlus team will be highlighting the submissions every two weeks, meaning over a total of four rounds. You can start submitting ideas now, but do note that it should be related to OxygenOS only.
These are the top 5 ideas right now
At the time of writing, the top 5 features on the IDEAS portal were always-on display, boosting the capabilities of the alert slider, horizontal edge notification lights, OnePlus Dex, and a one-handed mode.
