OnePlus TVs get Netflix support, and a new remote-control
The lack of Netflix support on the premium OnePlus TVs has been a talking point for a long time now. The Shenzhen-based tech giant has addressed the concern and is now releasing an update that brings official support for the popular streaming service. Separately, the company has also introduced a new remote-control featuring an improved design as well as dedicated Netflix and mute buttons.
The update is being released in phases
OnePlus has said that it "started rolling out the OTA update for Netflix support from November 21 in phases, simultaneously on the OnePlus TV 55 Q1 and OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro". Notably, once the TV is updated, Netflix will appear as a pre-installed app.
The company is also offering a new and improved remote
The company is also replacing the OnePlus TV remote with a new version that has a regular remote-like design instead of a sleek smartphone-like profile. The new remote is more functional, thanks to dedicated buttons for YouTube, Amazon Prime, and Netflix. Moreover, the volume buttons have been moved from the side to the front and a mute button has also been added (finally!).
You can get the new remote-control for free
OnePlus has said that it'll start shipping the new remote with its upcoming batch of TVs. However, in case you already own a OnePlus TV and have been managing with the old remote, you can get the new version for free. All you have to do is verify your OnePlus TV serial number and redeem an invitation code to get it for free.
Separately, OnePlus has also announced attractive offers for the TVs
OnePlus is celebrating its sixth anniversary in India and has announced a slew of offers for the OnePlus TV to earmark the occasion. Buyers can get a cashback of upto Rs. 5,000 using HDFC credit/debit cards and a cashback of upto Rs. 6,000 on making payments through Amazon Pay. There's also an additional Rs. 3,000 off on exchange and no-cost EMI for upto 24-months.
