These OnePlus smartphones get Google Lens integration within Google Assistant
OnePlus smartphone users, who have been using Google Assistant for just about anything, are in for some good news. The Chinese smartphone maker has started rolling out Google Lens integration within Google Assistant to some of its phones. The update, which is being released in a phased manner, will be available on the OnePlus 3/3T and OnePlus 5/5T smartphones. Here are the details.
First off, what is Google Lens?
Google Lens is essentially an AI-powered technology that uses deep machine learning, Google's knowledge database, and of course, your phone's camera to not only identify an object but also understand what it detects and offers actions based on what it sees. In other words, you could say Google Lens is a real-time reverse image search or Augmented Reality (AR) based Google search.
Here's how to check if you have received the update
If you're a OnePlus 3/3T/5/5T user, here's how you can check for the feature on your smartphone. Open Google Assistant and look for a camera icon at the bottom right corner. If you've received Google Lens integration, you'll be able to tap on the camera icon and get relevant information about an object/building by pointing your camera in its direction and tapping on it.
Google Lens was launched back in May, at I/O 2017
Some cool things you can do with Google Lens
Get reviews: Point your camera at a book cover or at a restaurant and Lens will provide you with a summary and reviews (when available). Identify flora/fauna: Lens can identify several species of flora and fauna to give you quick information. Scan business cards: Google Lens can scan the information and save it as a contact (Lens misses at times but it's fun).
