#LeakPeek: OnePlus 8 Pro to feature 120Hz AMOLED display
While OnePlus did spearhead the trend of 90Hz displays on smartphones, the Shenzhen-based tech giant is now looking to go a step further. According to a tip-off, the company's upcoming premium flagship, OnePlus 8 Pro, will come with a 120Hz AMOLED screen. This refresh rate will be the highest for smartphones. Here's all about it.
120Hz refresh rate will allow for smoother scrolling and animations
According to tipster Max J, OnePlus 8 Pro will get an upgraded 120Hz screen that will allow for smoother scrolling and more fluid animations than the OnePlus 7T Pro which features the same 90Hz QHD+ screen we saw on the OnePlus 7 Pro. And to differentiate the premium "Pro" model from the standard OnePlus 8, the latter is likely to get a 90Hz screen.
OnePlus 8 Pro will also sport a 'w-hole' new design
Further, according to early renders, the OnePlus 8 Pro will ditch the all-screen pop-up camera design we saw on the OnePlus 7/7T Pro models to adopt a Galaxy S10-like curved punch-hole display. On the rear, it will house a total of four cameras including a vertically-aligned triple lens unit and a separate ToF sensor. Moreover, the bottom speaker grille will also undergo some redesigning.
Everything else we expect from OnePlus 8 Pro
Notably, the OnePlus 8 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, the expected successor to Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. As for memory and storage, we expect upto 12GB RAM and upto 256GB storage. Furthermore, an improved in-screen fingerprint reader, louder stereo speakers, faster wired-charging (presumably 50W) and wireless charging support are some of the features we could see on the upcoming flagship.
OnePlus 8 series to arrive sometime around May-June
In an earlier tip-off, Max J had claimed that OnePlus would announce its upcoming flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, sometime in the second quarter of 2020. Hence, going by the tradition, we expect to see the OnePlus 8 series in May-June.
