OnePlus 8 series won't cross $1,000 price tag, confirms CEO

The upcoming OnePlus 8 series will not cost more than $1,000 (roughly Rs. 76,000), CEO Pete Lau has confirmed to Business Insider.
This means, even the top-of-the-line OnePlus 8 Pro, which is touted to come with flagship features like 120Hz AMOLED screen, IP68 water resistance, super-fast wireless charging, LPDDR5 RAM, and 5G support, will still be cheaper than the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.

DisplayMate, a display benchmarking platform, has awarded the upcoming OnePlus 8 series of smartphones the highest rating of A+. The handsets have received over 10 "Display Performance Records" including color accuracy that "is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect."

What do we know about OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro
According to leaked renders, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a punch-hole design with curved screen edges and metal-glass bodies. However, only the Pro version will boast of an IP68 water-resistance.
Further, the OnePlus 8 Pro will sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate whereas the standard model will settle for a 90Hz 6.55-inch Full-HD+ screen.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will headline a quad-camera setup including dual 48MP sensors, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 5MP camera. The regular OnePlus 8 will sport a triple-lens array comprising a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP secondary lens, and another 2MP camera.
On the front, both handsets will sport a 16MP camera housed in a punch-hole setup measuring just under 4mm.

What else do we know about the OnePlus 8 series
The OnePlus 8 series will be backed by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 865 5G processor, coupled with 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM (LPDDR4 on OnePlus 8) and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.
The Pro variant is tipped to pack a 4,510mAh battery with 30W wired as well as 30W wireless charging support while the OnePlus 8 will house a 4,300mAh battery with 30W wired charging only.
